Costa del Sol is one of the most popular recreation areas in Spain and Europe. There are more than 300 sunny days a year and the sand shore is even 160 km long. This entices vocation seekers from every corner of the world, irrespective of the budget. Costa del Sol has a night life centre Torremolinos, the picaresque Benalmadena, calm Fuengirola and one of the most well-known and popular resorts Marbella. For a tourist, there is everything needed for vocation – large selection of hotels, restaurants, bars, entertainment places, sporting possibilities, amusement parks. Nature is varied, mountains and valleys mixed with the blue sea. Flat sand beaches are surrounded by hill slopes, where villages are located. 

Marbella has also Estonian school, where teaching is held according to the study programme and values of the primary and basic school of Rocca al Mare school. The teachers are professionals in their field and most of the learning occurs outdoors. The school is meant for people who have tied their life and work with the Marbella area. A reason is often health problems and therefore some children need another climate for recovery and cure. Meanwhile, the people also want their children to know their roots and to acquire knowledge about their mother country in their native language.

COSTA DEL SOL

A major advantage of Costa del Sol is its temperature. In winter, the temperature does not fall below 10 degrees and in summer, it is not more than 40, which is more suitable for Estonians than for example Granada or Sevilla. There are many beautiful virgin beaches, which have not yet been conquered by tourists. Nerja is a nice small village in Costa del Sol. The tourist destination Balcon de Europa is located there, which was once thought to be the southern-most point of Europe. Water is transparent and beautiful there.

A major tradition is southern Spain is chiringuitos, that is, mainly beach bars where you can eat both breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can also enjoy a fresh Mojito or Spanish wine. Usually, fresh fish or other seafood are offered there, which have been caught on the same morning from the waters of Costa del Sol. In summer, you can also enjoy espeto, similar to grilled fish.

In Malaga, many desert wines are produced, famous all over the world. There are wine bars all around where to enjoy local wines and to take an excursion in wine cellars. 

We should also mention Marbella, which is the no 1 destination in Costa del Sol. It is the attraction of famous people, while many of them live there. Marbella is a place of luxury that could be compared to Nice in France.

Besides beaches, there are many mountains where to hike or just look around. Very popular are trips to the top of La Concha mountain, with gorgeous views to Marbella.

Costa del Sol is perfect for travelling, as all roads are new and you get very fast to every place. There are 2 types of highways: paid and free. There is no speed limit on paid roads.

Air connection with Estonia is rather good, you can take a plane from Helsinki every day twice to Malaga, which is the capital of Costa del Sol. You could also take SAS or Lufthansa.

Close to Costa del Sol, there are many beautiful villages that should be definitely visited.

In the Midsummer’s Eve (San Juan – in Spain) there are always big parties on Costa del Sol beaches, and big festivals in summer.

In Facebook, there are many groups such as Eestlased Hispaanias, where Estonians hold joint events and help each other.
